Lose weight 2017 ! Why diets do not work!*

I do not know how many times I have heard the phrase ‘ I have tried every diet in the book and nothing seems to work’, or,’ I go on a diet , lose weight but just end up piling on more pounds as soon as I stop the diet’.

The fact is, there are many reasons why diets do not work.

Going back to our ancestors – have you ever seen a fat caveman?

  1. Food is essential to sustain life,depriving ourselves to the point that we are hungry goes against every survival instinct in the book! We are hunter/gatherers and our natural instinct is to eat the food that we have. Therefore, if we have a fridge full of chocolate and a cupboard full of crisps and biscuits,it is against our natural instincts to NOT eat that food as soon as we feel a hunger pang!
  2. Think about what our ancestors ate ….protein,vegetables,and fruit. What type of fruit and veg depended on where you lived in the world…..but regardless, meat was caught,and fruit and vegetables were gathered. Simply, our bodies need protein to function properly. Protein provides us with calories and gives us energy, and we need at least 52 grams of protein per day to keep our immune system functioning and to maintain fluid balance. We also need protein to burn fat.We need veg to provide us with all the vitamins we need to maintain a healthy body.
  3. Our ancestors hunted and gathered their food…this could mean walking for miles to find the fruit or veg,or running for miles to catch the animal to be killed. They had to work for their food…physically work. Which meant calories burnt which = less fat stored, which = no fat cavemen!

So quite simply, what did our ancestors eat to stay fit, slim and healthy? Fruit,veg,protein,fibre,and dairy,in their simplest form. No chocolate,no crisps,no biscuits,no cakes,no sugary drinks,no refined or processed products .

NOW, I am not suggesting we need to revert to caveman eating in order to lose weight and keep it off. But what I am suggesting is that you can eat a LOT of the right foods, NEVER feel hungry AND lose weight! For example,a full plate of  salad with a good helping of protein,say a tin of tuna, or a whole chicken breast, or even a steak, will keep you fuller for longer and help you lose weight! And you won’t feel hungry till dinner!*

A full English breakfast to lose weight? YES! Lean bacon and sausage,(grilled not fried) a poached egg, whole cooked tomatoes, mushrooms, beans. Fantastic  weight loss! Much better than two slices of toast dripping in butter! Or a sugary cereal! And you won’t feel hungry till lunch.*

So to lose weight, it’s more about what you eat than how much you eat. People often tell me that if they are on a diet and they feel hungry, then they feel that the diet is working. NO! There is never a reason to feel hungry.

To lose weight and keep it off you need to make sustainable lifestyle changes. This could be something as simple as replacing the amount of carbohydrates you eat with more protein. It could simply be cutting take away’s out of your diet (A takeaway curry can be up to 5000 calories. A home cooked curry can be made in less than 1000 calories).

It could be that you are a chocoholic. Did you know that simply swapping your milk chocolate treats to dark chocolate can reduce calorie intake by 80%?

Everyone of us is different, and every one of us have our food demons. Recognising what they are, and taking control means you will lose weight without having to diet. It may take a little longer than a conventional diet, but in the long term the weight will stay off and you will not feel hungry or deprived. Also it is important to remember that when we diet, our metabolism slows down. So what happens as soon as we start eating normally? Our metabolism is not working hard enough to burn all those calories.

So what does all this have to do with hypnosis?

Once we have agreed on the healthy foods you enjoy,and the foods that you need to avoid, I then install this new eating plan under hypnosis in session two. This helps improve willpower, helps reduce food urges and cravings and helps you to find it easy to avoid the foods that are making you fat.*

The following three sessions are the hypno-band. This is the hypnotic equivalent of the gastric band . Your subconscious is led to believe you have had a real gastric band, which helps you eat less and feel full more quickly.* This combined with the post hypnotic suggestions for healthy eating is very effective.
